About Us
Nestled in the mountains of Southwest Virginia, off of the Appalachian Trail, is our small family run farm. It is also where we live and raise our family. We are small hobby breeders who are working to responsibly breed healthy Pyrenean Shepherds, with biddable temperaments, correct conformation, and sound movement. Our goals are to produce well-balanced dogs, who can positively contribute to the breed both in the ring and as family companions.
Why Echo Ridge?
Echo is the name of our foundation female, and she is the reason we fell in love with Pyr Sheps. The ridge represents our home nestled among the mountains, in the Triple Crown of the Appalachian trail. Also it speaks to the Pyr Sheps' identity as a mountain-dwelling, sheep herding breed.
Involvement
We are active members of the Pyrenean Shepherd Club of America, Roanoke Kennel Club, and members of Star City Canine Training Club. We serve on the Pyrenean Shepherd National Committee, Pyrenean Shepherd Club of America Board, Roanoke Kennel Club Board, organized supported entries for our local shows, teach training classes at Star City, and volunteer with our local clubs. As a family, we participate in both performance and conformation events with our dogs, and our kiddos have inspired us to host AKC's Pee Wee special events at our local dog show cluster.
Dedication to Responsible Breeding
As active members of the Pyrenean Shepherd Club of America, we follow their breeder ethics. We also complete the recommended testing, as outlined by the breed club, and our dogs' results are posted on the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals website. We strive to be transparent regarding the health of our dogs and their lines. In addition, we are proud to have been recognized by the American Kennel Club as Breeders of Merit for Pyrenean Shepherds.
